Mediterranean Memories I

Abstract art invites each viewer to discover something different.

Mediterranean Memories I is the first piece in a triptych of original abstract acrylic paintings created with layers of blue, turquoise and textured medium.

For me, this series has a very personal meaning. I created the three paintings during the cold Swedish winter, while missing the light, warmth and Mediterranean Sea of my native Andalusia in southern Spain. The different shades of blue, the textured central line and the sense of an undefined horizon emerged from those memories.

Yet the painting is intentionally abstract. What I see in it does not have to be what you see. It might suggest a distant coastline, waves, a horizon, a winter landscape or simply an arrangement of color and texture. Part of the beauty of abstract art is allowing each person to create their own interpretation.

The three paintings were conceived together as a triptych and share the same palette, materials and visual language. However, each piece has its own composition and can also stand independently.

Mediterranean Memories I, II and III may be purchased individually, as a pair, or as the complete triptych.

Each artwork is presented in a handmade wooden frame created by the artist specifically for this series, bringing the final dimensions of each piece to 40 × 50 cm. The frame was designed as part of the overall composition and is included with the painting.
