This original watercolor on canvas is a playful celebration of summer, capturing three slices of watermelon in fresh shades of pink, red and green.
The simple composition and loose brushwork give the piece a light and spontaneous character. I particularly like the contrast between the softness and transparency of watercolor and the visible texture of the canvas, which makes this small work quite different from my watercolors on paper.
Created as a simple study of color, shape and texture, Watermelons has remained with me and is now part of my personal collection.
