Inspired by memories of my childhood in southern Spain, this original watercolor has a particularly personal meaning for me.
Wisteria has always taken me back to the Mediterranean gardens and warm summer days I remember from growing up. Its cascading purple flowers, soft colors and delicate movement are closely connected to those memories, making this painting much more than a botanical study. It is a small piece of my childhood translated into watercolor.
Painted with loose, transparent washes of violet and green, the composition focuses on the natural movement of the flowers and the beauty found in their irregular shapes and changing tones.
