This original acrylic painting captures a grey heron leaning quietly over the water, completely focused on the moment before catching its prey.
I was drawn to the characteristic posture of the heron, with its long neck extending towards the water and its reflection appearing softly beneath it. The neutral background, touches of blue and surrounding reeds create a calm atmosphere while allowing the bird to remain the clear focus of the composition.
Herons have become a recurring subject in my acrylic work. I am fascinated by their elegance, patience and stillness, and by the contrast between their graceful appearance and the sudden precision of their movements when fishing.
