Inspired by the lush beauty of hydrangeas, this original watercolor captures four deep blue flower heads surrounded by layers of fresh green leaves.
Hydrangeas are one of those flowers that immediately attract attention through both their color and their distinctive rounded shape. In this painting, I wanted the intense blues of the flowers to become the focal point, contrasting with the softer and more transparent greens of the foliage.
Painted with loose layers of watercolor, the composition celebrates the organic shapes, variations of color and small imperfections found in nature. The simplicity of the piece allows the characteristic transparency of watercolor to remain visible while giving the flowers a strong presence.
This work is part of my early watercolor collection from 2024 and reflects my growing interest in botanical subjects and the endless inspiration I find in flowers and nature.
