Some landscapes exist only in our imagination.
Imaginary Places I is an original acrylic painting and part of my Imaginary Places series, a collection of abstract landscapes inspired by places that exist somewhere between memory, imagination and dreams.
Soft layers of turquoise, blue, green and muted pink blend together to create a dreamlike atmosphere. The shifting colors and luminous areas are also subtly influenced by the Northern Lights of northern Sweden, where light and color can transform the landscape into something almost unreal.
The composition combines soft transparent areas with heavily textured sections around the edges. Subtle golden details catch the light across the textured surface, changing slightly depending on the angle from which the painting is viewed. A small group of birds introduces movement and a sense of distance within the otherwise abstract landscape.
Rather than representing a particular place, this painting is an invitation to imagine your own: somewhere between the Nordic landscape, memory and fantasy.
