Mediterranean Memories II is an original abstract acrylic painting created as part of a three-piece series inspired by the Mediterranean Sea.

Abstract art invites each viewer to find their own meaning. What one person sees as waves, another may experience as a horizon, movement, distance or simply a feeling. There is no single interpretation. The painting becomes something different through the eyes of each person who looks at it.

For the artist, however, this series has a very personal story. Mediterranean Memories was created during the cold Swedish winter, while thinking about and missing the Mediterranean Sea of her native Andalusia in southern Spain.

Layers of blue, soft turquoise and deep navy combine with textured surfaces to evoke the movement, depth and changing character of the sea.

The work is presented in a handmade wooden frame designed and created by the artist specifically for this series. The frame forms part of the overall presentation of the artwork and is included with the painting.

Mediterranean Memories II belongs to a triptych of three original works. Each painting is available individually, while the three pieces can also be collected together as the complete Mediterranean Memories triptych.
